Pembrokeshire College and the finalists were Helen Carrington, Gracie Griffiths and Seren Thorne:
Helen Carrington (Winner):
Helen Carrington’s powerlifting journey began in 2020 and quickly transformed her life. Starting as a supportive mother, she is now a level 2 powerlifting coach, collecting prestigious accolades, including a Great Britain singlet in Istanbul and a Welsh Commonwealth Championship vest. Recently, she triumphed at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Games in South Africa, winning gold in the M1 84kg class in bench press.
Gracie Griffiths (Runner-Up):
Gracie Griffiths is an accomplished race walker, holding numerous Welsh and British records, including the prestigious title of British Champion in the women’s 5k race walk. Remarkably, she achieved this while balancing A-level studies and part-time work. Gracie’s outstanding 5k time of 23 minutes and 53 seconds has taken her to competitions across the UK and Europe, where she has defeated competitors double her age. Her unwavering dedication and resilience mark her as an exceptional athlete, and she now sets her sights on the 20k race walk, aiming for Olympic qualification in 4 years’ time.
Seren Thorne (Runner-Up):
Seren Thorne’s exceptional achievements in 10m air rifle shooting include winning junior gold and senior bronze at the Welsh Open. She broke Welsh records twice, shattered the British junior qualification record, and claimed individual silver at the Junior World Cup in Spain. Her bronze medal in the mixed team category set another British record. Crowned British junior women’s champion, Seren also serves as British Shooting’s ambassador for 2024-2025.
